Grace: Manifesting It Through Gratitude

“Grace is flowing back to me.”

Hey there!

So, I’m participating in this free 21-day meditation challenge presented by Oprah and Deepak Chopra. This time around, the challenge’s focus is “Manifesting Grace through Gratitude.” Previous topics have been how “all good things bring gratitude,” and how to learn to recognize things to be grateful for so that you can open up to receiving more experiences to appreciate. Today is Day 4, and in the journal section where you are invited to share your thoughts, we were asked to reflect on the times (most recently) that we experienced signs of grace. I was able to recall those times most vividly, and decided to share them with my readers. I also want to encourage you, if its your “thing, to join the meditation challenge. Its free and worth all 20 minutes of the 24 hours in your day. Each time that I actually make time to meditate is when I find that I am most at peace and have a more of a clear perspective on my day. I also feel high… Yes, like I just smoked a pound of weed (which I do not smoke at all). Lol Who needs drugs when you can just meditate?! …Don’t knock it until you try it. ūüėČ

Journal: Day 4 – Grace Is Replying

Write down any signs of grace that have come to you recently, such as an unexpected kindness or moment of joy, a sense of perfection, or a feeling of belonging.

I felt grace when I dreamt about my late grandmother the other night. I am currently preparing to move across the country to start a new chapter in my life, and to be honest, I am terrified. In my dream, I was already in my new city, and I was at someone’s wedding. While maneuvering to find a seat, I caught a glance of a woman wearing a red dress and it was my grandmother. I was ecstatic and made a mental note that I would make my way to say hello. Just as I was weaving my way through the crowd of people standing in the isle, I peeped around their bodies to make sure that I was heading towards my grandma. Just as I was getting closer, I woke up. Damnit!  It saddened me that I could not get close enough to her to have a conversation or even say hello.  But I am thankful for grace giving me peace by allowing her to appear in my dream. It gave me comfort to know that even though she’s not physically present, she still supports me at times that I feel I need her most.

Cutting back on duties and demands to spend more time connecting with those you love is a wonderful way to invigorate your energy. Write down three ways you can renew your energy by appreciating what’s around you. For example, you could take a quiet walk amid the trees, view an art exhibit, or catch up with a dear friend.

Yesterday I felt grace when I walked outside to sit among the trees and nature. I found myself wanting to clear my mind, so I decided to meditate outdoors. Its amazing how, in an instant, I felt a sense of oneness with all that the outdoors had to offer. Aside from being distracted by a few pedestrians waling by, I was able to connect my energy with the emanating energies of the trees, and the earth, and the wind… I heard birds chirping, and felt the warmth of the sun kissing my skin. I would do it again, and often even, because it calms my mind and helps me to put things in perspective. I could always pick up the phone to call someone that I haven’t spoken to in a while. Those times always turn into two hour long conversations, and almost always end with “I love you” and “don’t be a stranger.”

Grace is laced throughout my everyday life and always leaves me feeling energetic and ready to handle the next big task of the day.I feel so appreciative that I can recognize these moments as they happen, and be able to say “Thank You” to God and the Universe for allowing me know the joys of life and appreciate them as they come.

Use this space to reflect further on your experience today.

It’s still early in the day for me, but I am open to however grace will present itself. I am open to beauty in all forms, and look forward to continuing to push past fear and allow abundance and love to pour into my life. I’m appreciative for this platform… I look forward to each day that I get to meditate with Deepak and Oprah in my ear.

Namaste…

Tending to Spirit: The POWER of Focusing Within

love-hearts-live-hd-wallpapers-2-6-s-307x512¬†I feel so blessed to have this platform to share my passion of council/and coaching. I’m grateful to the many people whom I’ve had the privilege of crossing paths with throughout my journey, and the many lessons that I continue to learn from our interactions. Its funny because so often many of us take these interactions for granted, failing to see the beauty that pours from them because we are too busy focusing on everything surrounding them, rather than what is going on inside ourselves as a result of them. What i know for sure is that if we are open to allowing ourselves to become more, and to constantly improve our life experiences, we can contribute so much more to those around us.

When we take our attention away from the noise and distractions of the outside world (and the people in it), we give ourselves room to reflect on our own inner processes, such as what ¬†makes us happy, what causes us pain, what makes us feel appreciative or appreciated. It has been written and uttered by the GREATS throughout the history of mankind, that man’s greatest task in life is to¬†KNOW THYSELF. It is only through inner reflection, and the willingness to heal pains of the past and evolve, that one can change his own reality, and ultimately make a difference in the lives of others.

When we find ourselves in situations where we somehow feel that we were mistreated or wronged in some way, the greatest gift that we can give ourselves is the opportunity to make any experience less about another person, and more about what you can NOW do with a newfound awareness of self. This means that one should focus as often as possible on how their own thoughts, feelings, and actions may have somehow contributed to such an interaction. This is not to say that one should find fault within himself for something that occurred. However, it is to say that no one has the power to affect you in any way that you don’t allow them to. And as we now know, and have come to accept from the GREAT Sir Isaac Newton’s Laws of Motion,

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

This notion of knowing thyself has less to do with religious beliefs and theories, and everything to do with understanding that we are all physically interacting with one another as we live life on EARTH, and as result, we are constantly exchanging messages through our actions and words. ¬†Life’s interactions are all about the balance of give and take. When we learn to take the focus from any and everything outside of ourselves and learn to go within to uncover the true meaning behind our choices (whether it be past hurts and joys, or pride and shame), we empower ourselves with the tools to walk the face of the EARTH with confidence and reassurance that we are indeed “Masters of our fate, captains of our souls.”

Another great thing about inner focus is that when we give ourselves room to have stillness and peace, we allow ourselves to recharge and approach any situation with a clear mind and more positive energy. Oftentimes we are so used to “reacting” to everything around us, typically out of emotion. But we all know that most decisions we make based on emotions are usually not the greatest. That’s because emotions are like the waves of the ocean, they are fickle and constantly change from one moment to the next. However, when we take all focus from the outer world and redirect it within, we allow ourselves to attract better outcomes from a less emotionally charged perspective, to a more serene and peaceful state of being. And we all have experience with this kind of phenomena. We all know how it feels to walk away from a person or thing until we feel better about the subject, only to realized that it turns out so much better when you do your own inner work. ¬†Now that’s what true POWER really is!¬†

Most recently, I stumbled across this audio track of one of my favorite Universal Law of Attraction teachers Abraham and Esther Hicks on the subject of focusing within. Please check it out and drop me a line (comment). I’d love to hear from you!

[Disclaimer: Language such as “Vortex,””Source Energy,” and Vibration are used instead of Spirit, GOD, and energy because the teachings have less to do with religion and EVERYTHING to do with understanding the human psyche and experience. Please look past the literal language and allow yourself to be open to new lessons.]

Namaste,

Words of Wisdom

Fear¬†is a question: What are you afraid of and why? Just as the seed of health is in illness, because illness contains information, our fears are a treasure house of self-knowledge if we explore them…

-Marilyn Ferguson

Fear is a habit; so is self-pity, defeat, anxiety, despair, hopelessness and resignation. You can eliminate all of these negative habits with two simple resolves: I can!! and I will!!

-Napoleon Hill

If¬†you think of this world as a place intended simply for our happiness, you find it quite intolerable: think of it as a place for correction and it’s not so bad. Imagine a set of people all living in the same building. Half of them think it is a hotel, the other half think it is a prison. Those who think it a hotel might regard it as quite intolerable, and those who thought it was a prison might decide that it was really surprisingly comfortable. So that what seems the ugly doctrine is one that comforts and strengthens you in the end. The people who try to hold an optimistic view of this world would become pessimists: the people who hold a pretty stern view of it become optimistic

-C. S. Lewis

(Video INSPIRATION) Billionaire Tyler Perry’s Secret To Success: “Narrow Your Focus To One Idea”

When I watched this video, it resonated with me so much because of my own journey. ¬†As some of my readers know, I’ve been “Dream Chasing” for the past 4 years with an idea that all began on a piece of paper… I’ve done several different jobs to make ends meet in between. I even went back to school to get a second degree because I believed that the training would add to my ability to help my dream come true (which it really has enhanced my skill set). But I ended up all over the place and doing all the things that I thought would be pleasing to other people. And I knew that it had to STOP. Most recently, I found myself at a crossroads of which direction I wanted to head with my life… and I chose to narrow everything down to one idea, one area of focus.

After watching Tyler Perry explain that his success was based on him focusing on accomplishing one goal, and believing in that goal no matter what his physical reality was, is the reason he is where he is today, I was beyond INSPIRED. In comparison to my own journey, I would have to say that he’s right. Since coming to grips with what I am wanting out of life, and making the decision to focus on just that, I have seen many doors of opportunity open up… And it only gets better from here.

Making Peace With What Is Lightens the Load

Often times, when we are faced with obstacles, the natural reaction is to stress about it; we worry ourselves sick, or we crumble under pressure and retract from life momentarily since its easier to escape or numb yourself from the pain.

My process, like anyone else who is striving to be their best self, has been a¬†rollercoaster indeed. But even in the midst of my own concerns, I am learning to make peace with whatever I am facing, because it’s the only way that I can truly welcome a better outcome.

When you can learn to accept what is as nothing more than a temporary occurence (as is every fleeting moment of life on Earth), you enable yourself to then begin to tell a different story. You make room for new thoughts and ways of being because you no longer allow the old thoughts of “lack” to consume you. As you begin to shift your awareness, the Universe will respond accordingly.

One of the most accurate quotes I once heard states:

“What you resist, persists.”

This quote could not be more head on. When you give something your attention long enough to let it worry or stress you out, then you are subconsciously welcoming more of it (and things like it) into your experience because of your resistance to what is. But when you can come to peace with it; when you can accept it as a temporary discomfort, and then begin to speak and think thoughts of happiness, abundance, prosperity, and love, the Universe will grant you more of those things to be grateful for.

It has never been rocket science for one to live the life that one dreams of. It has always been in the power of thought and the focus of energy (emotions such as desire, belief, faith, and the opposite of each). Every religion that ever existed points us in this very direction of guarding one’s mind and monitoring one’s energy flow. IT is the most significant battle that we face as humans (the battle of the mind/spirit), but IT is one worth fighting.

May peace, love, and prosperity consume you…

Love,

@BCSTARKS

If you make a “sound” decision, STICK WITH IT!

Based on the many lessons that I have, and continue to encounter, I am mostly learning the importance of sticking with whatever decisions I make; as long as when I come to my conclusion about a subject (whatever it may be) I am operating out of my best emotional state (excitement, happiness, creativity, peace, joy, love).

This is rather important because many times we go into situations feeling positive emotions about something, but eventually we get distracted from the good, and begin to shift our focus to those things and circumstances unwanted… which ultimately leaves us second guessing and regretting our choices (and could possibly cause us to miss out on once in a lifetime opportunities).

But the idea to understand is that there was a¬†reason why you once felt so great about the conclusion that you drew. The reason is that no vision, especially when it is of “light,” (positive feelings and actions) is ever flawed. If the decision is harmless, to yourself and others, and it feels right, then IT IS RIGHT.

However, its only when you start giving your attention to what’s so wrong about it, that your experience with it becomes so wrong. Everything starts to contradict your initial excitement because your focus has gone from why it’s so great, to your being consumed with why it’s so bad.

I am a firm believer in the power of the human mind to be able to create out of a single thought, whatever experiences and things that one chooses to give their attention to. Look around, every physical thing in life is a perfect example of this idea (airplanes, cars, buildings, businesses, technology, music… all are the result of focused attention/thoughts.

The reason I’ve learned to not walk away from decisions that I make from a positive emotional state, is because when I walk through the process of those choices, I find that the greatest lessons lie there; lessons that are meant to shape us into the very people that we intend to be.

A simple shift in one’s awareness from how bad it is (now) to how great it is (when we first imagined it, and even now, as long as we choose to only entertain the good) will reveal that there is no such thing as a mistake or coincidence when you are operating from SOURCE. If you can continue to exercise faith by walking through your process, then perseverance will show you that none of your focused effort will ever be in vain.

So if you made the decision with the good intentions, stick with it, and in doing so continue to be your best self. Watch how your process turns from obstacle to open opportunity to grow abundantly. When you finally “arrive,” you can look back and say, “It was all a part of my process, and I wouldn’t change a thing.”

What inspired you today?

I haven’t blogged in 10 days… Ouch! lol (my bad)

At this very moment it is 4:45 am and my mother is still ¬†up and at her craft, hair (btw, she hasn’t slept since yesterday night). Its pretty late, but when you’re working on making a vision reality, time doesn’t exist and creativity has no curfew.

My mother keeps me inspired because of her willingness to fight for her goals no matter what distractions she encounters.

A while back, she set the goal of revolutionizing the industry that she loves so dearly and has been a part of for more years than I’ve been alive. And she wanted to do it with me by her side. As her one and only baby girl who grew up in the hair industry, it has always been a dream of mine to be a part of something special alongside my mother as well. So for the past three years, we have worked towards our initial goal, and let me just say that it has been quite the journey.

I’ve learned so much along the way, and have overcome many obstacles … or distractions if you will. In fact, these past few days have been minutely challenging for me in many ways. From car problems, to my own uncertainty about which direction to take in certain areas of life (which for many like myself, can be quite overwhelming at times). I’ve even found myself in a bit of a funk as a result of me giving so much attention to the things that were making me unhappy.

But through it all, it has been my mother’s determination and desire to make our vision a reality that keeps pulling me back into the “focus” lane. Distractions seem to come so easy, while focus is what we must battle our minds for. Thanks to my mother and wonderful business partner, I’ve been inspired to remember the power of believing in even the things I have yet to see. Because of her exemplary¬†guidance, I know that the only thing that separates someone who achieves a goal from someone who doesn’t, is whether or not they give up when things get tough. ¬†Some of the things that I have already accomplished in my premature life has been the result of perseverance, dedication, and a burning desire to achieve, therefore I know that all hard work eventually pays off.

I know that this is so because of my momma… who has no intentions of going to bed any time soon. Don’t worry, I’m taking notes and following her lead. We look forward to sharing the next chapter of our journey with the world in the very near future. ūüôā

@BCSTARKS¬†+ her mother + no rest because we’re crafting and creating = #winning!!!

Don’t Let the Small Things Sweat Ya: How to Keep It Moving

Everyday is not always such a great one… although, it would be much more beneficial to believe the opposite of that statement. Sure, there are many things to be grateful for in each of our lives, but sometimes it’s not so easy to cut through all the B.S… When I’m in such a mood, I have to force myself to forget about whatever is wrecking my nerves, and find thoughts that put me in a better “feeling” place.

I emphasize “feeling” because how you feel means everything. It means the difference between whether you make a new friend today, whether you decide to go back to school, to make-up or break up with special someone, etc. When you make decisions from a “not-so-good” feeling place, you’re setting yourself up for failure. Think about it. When has any great decision been made by anyone who is in a state of depression, or is angry, or bitter with life, or upset about something? Don’t worry, I’ll wait for it…

On the contrary, when you can get yourself to a better “feeling” place than the “not-so-good” mood that you may be in, then you’ll not only be doing yourself a favor, but everyone else that is a part of your life as well.

Try this for a change: Instead of focusing on how bad “it” is, try finding something that you like about that person, or circumstances surrounding your issue, and make a mental note, or write it down. As you continue to sift through your thoughts for more things to be happy about, notice how your emotions ¬†go from negative, to positive (gradually, that is). Once you ¬†start to feel better, make an effort to focus your attention toward other things that are important to you, like a goal that you want to accomplish… and work towards getting it done. Before you know it, you’ve turned a seemingly bad situation into productivity.

The more you practice this exercise, the better you’ll become at controlling how you allow things to affect you. ¬†Trust me, not only am I getting so much better at it , but those close to me recognize my growth as well. Remember, happiness is yours for the taking. #teamdreamchasers

Be specific, not careful with what you ask for

‘Be careful what you ask for…’

We’ve heard this saying time and time again. It has¬†practically been run into the ground so much that many of us have become desensitized to the power asking. Many of our parents and grandparents have, at some point, forewarned us of the true power that we as humans have¬†when we put so much focus into a thought that it becomes our reality. But how often is it that you truly pay attention to the creations of your personal world?

If you are a¬†member of¬† Western society, my guess is that¬† much of your attention is often clouded by the many happenings of your temporary reality.¬† So much, that you often forget how many times along your¬†life journey that you weren’t so passive about¬†life. Instead, in many instances ¬†you were decisive about what moves you were going to make, the things that you wanted to experience, the people who¬†you wanted to experience them with, and how you wanted to feel. You were specific with the Universe about your requests, and in a matter of time (seconds, minutes, hours, days, months, or¬†years) your very wishes became your reality. However, by the time you received¬†what you were asking for, you were already on to the next request. And so you forget.

This blog post was written to remind you that you are more powerful than you can imagine, and that your focus means EVERYTHING in terms of your requests of  Universe.

You cannot ask and expect to receive if you are not specific with what it is you are wanting. If uncertainty is the dominant position that you hold, then the Universe will return  to you the dominant energy of your focus. The Universe does not discriminate and consistently gives you energy driven  experiences that are based on the exact energy that you give to it.

So my advice is to be mindful of where your focus is. Instead of always being careful what you ask for, try being specific with your requests. Once you¬†decide, the Universe will bend at your very request.¬†But you have to make¬†up your mind…
