I’ve made these past few weeks all about getting back to what makes me happy. And quite frankly, its the little things. From spending time with my family, to buying myself something nice here and there. But nothing makes me happier than a dose of inspiration from creative minds, especially fashionably DOPE ONES!
Melody Ehsani is a designer (worn by the likes of Rhianna, Cassie, Erykah Badu, Alicia Keys and more…) that I have followed for the past several years, and I am continuously impressed by the depth of creativity and connectedness that she continues to exude. I love everything about her journey and how she chooses NOT to identify herself as the story that she has lived.
Most recently I found her profile on Instagram, after not having kept up with her latest designs and projects for a while, and I was blown away yet again. I was prompted to visit her oh-so cool blog/Tumblr that inspired me once before because she uses it as a tool to be just as creatively expressive as she does in her work. Intelligent, wise well beyond her years, edgy… The woman is AWESOME. I hope to meet her one day and perhaps have her as part of my life’s power circle of kindred spirits and friends.
But until then, check out part of why M.E. leaves me feeling BEYOND inspired… This is the Melody Ehsani blueprint:
“I think one of the most important things is authenticity and following what I call your DIVINE blueprint. You know, there’s no one else that’s going to be Melody Ehsani, it’s just me. And I’m not worried about competition or anything like that because I KNOW that this cannot be copied or duplicated because this is WHO I AM.”
Check me out rocking my M.E. “Queen of the Jungle” necklace… feeling something like a Queen of the Jungle. Hehehee! 😉
I have always had super thick and wild eye brows, and I didn’t really appreciate them until I reached my twenties. I have attempted to have them tamed and trained by “experts” in various beauty spots on occasion, but I could hardly ever find someone who understands that brows already have a natural shape that can be followed, and that everyone doesn’t have to leave with overly expressive brows… You know, the kind that are either too sharp and pointed that you always look angry, or too round and high that you always look surprised.
Luckily, my hairstylist/ beauty expert for life is the bomb because she gets it (she also happens to be my mother). After all of my not-so-good experiences, I’ve grown to appreciate my “eyebrow lady” and I absolutely LOVE my brows. So much so, that I vow to never let another person wax, or thread, or tweezer them away until they are nearly non-existent and out of shape. EVER!!
I found these pics on the net that inspired me to be proud of the bushes above my eyes. Thick brows are the ish, whether you grow them, or get a little help. WERK!
That’s right, former Featured Dream Chaser, and creator of By Misha clothing line, Misha Vaidya is headed to New York Fashion Week 2012. If you remember her inspiring story, then you know that someone’s been doing some major grinding in 2011.
Having recently completed her 2nd photo shoot EVER, Misha is on her way to the land of opportunities abound for a fashion designer. Not too bad for newbie ;-). Check out the official invitation and RSVP if you’ll be in the area.
I’m still drooling over her “Tea Time” Collection. Can’t wait to see what’s next. Check out some pictures from By Misha’s Tea Time Collection… the vision that started it all.
I spy one awesome blog to follow.
After browsing around the net, I came across this super cool blog dedicated to the hottest trends in nail polish, nail art, and all things NAIL PRETTY!
PolishYouPretty.com offers comprehensive step by step techniques and tutorials to create some of the wildest, brightest, and boldest nail art.
If you follow me on Twitter (@BCSTARKS) then you know that I too have an affinity for nail art (or anything fashion, beauty, and hair related for that matter), as I occasionally go crazy with my own nail designs.
The site is the brainchild of two nail polish obsessed girlfriends, Danielle and Jenny, who’ve discovered a way to express their creative passions… Yes, through original nail art designs!
Their creative expression makes my heart smile as I too can relate to their artistry. They’ve inspired my inner DIVA, perhaps you will feel the same. Check them out and follow them on Twitter!
You Go Girls!
